The best!!
A fantastic IEP resource!

A Wonderful BookThe book has a wonderful way of helping you look at everyday events, and see the blessings in everything. It reminds us that we can always go to God - whether the need is great or small, or just to praise him for our blessings.
This book was a comfort to me after the loss of mother. At the time of the funeral, my Pastor's wife gave me this book for comfort. Little did she know how she helped me.
The section entitled, "The New Dimension" became the prayers I prayed both for me and my mother.
When I read "The Message", I smiled through my tears, It was as if she knew my mother and had been in her house! She wrote such wonderful memories.
The second paragraph reminded me that my mother too, was ready to go Home, just as if she was ready to go to church on Sunday.
"The Lesson of Loss" reminded me that there were those who were ready to comfort me if I would let them. My grief became easier
to bear and my tears started me on the healing process.
"Be Still and Know" helped me realize that my mother was healed now and no longer suffering.
And "The New Dimension of Love" thrilled me in knowing that I would see mother again in heaven.
I am now a Pastor's wife and I have tried to find this book to give to several of our congregation who have suffered loss.
I triumphed over my grief with the simple prayers and passages in this book. I want to share it with anyone who has suffered a loss, especially of a mother.
Thank you, Marjorie Holmes, for giving me strength.

"Only you can take the next step. You must surrender if you desire to evolve. You must become intoxicated by the lynx." With that exhoration, Nari regressed to age three and soon stood beside a honey-brown man with jet-black hair and amber eyes. "Trust me sister. All is well." In this novel, Holmes follows the lives of friends and lovers from Buffalo's East side, all thirty-somethings, or bearly, as they discover the true self. Twin sisters reunite and escape to a special place in the mountains where radiance and meditative songs let the soul "enter into a place that has only offered peace and comfort." All is not mystical. On the earthly plain, roommates jealously guard their men, who zealously pursue the princessess, Holmes occasionally uses graphic language to tether the metaphysical. But Stephanie shows her sister Candy the wonders of special, the zone of waves that wash childhood memories through jaded cells. "I will focus my energy on my center to assit you. You will see." The Lynx held a key. "Your fears will stalk you as long as you feed them. You must learn the source of your fears or it will consume you." The men consider Richard Pryor's philosophy of male selfishness. But each individual grows in the light of discovery. Exploration, agony and affection have unraveled the mysteries of life." -the Book Reader: America's Most Independent of New Books

A VERY INTERESTING BOOK
Birthing the way it used to be

Practical Guide to Mr. Holmes' IdeasLiving the Science of Mind sets out Mr. Holmes' new-thought-derived ideas in a very readable, straightforward book. This book is not laden with endless jargon, nor does it have that "self help book for the soul" feel that some popular religion books can have. Instead, it tries in intelligent but accessible language to explain Science of Mind beliefs, and to illustrate how those beliefs might be applied in everyday thought.
New thought is built in large measure on positive thinking and the belief, to a great or lesser extent, that spiritual practice can lead to changes in the physicial universe. Mr. Holmes explains in some detail how he conceives this works in everyday life. This is not intended as a complex defense of his faith, and the reader from a different tradition will see many questions in the explanations which have not been fully resolved. Still, this is that rare work of religious material which is both practical and filled with ideas. Some other new thought works seem more like sales pieces than books of faith. Living the Science of Mind is instead a useful guide to a faith, which does not require the suspension of disbelief to enjoy. I don't find myself a "new thought" practitioner, but I think the book is both interesting and useful. Ernest Holmes' thinking has had a bigger influence in our vision of what is the "American Dream" than his Church of Religious Science's impact has been. This is a good guide to understand where he came from and what it means in everyday terms.
